Dynamics 365 Form Notifications

How can I schedule my upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 Online?

If you ‘re currently using Microsoft Dynamics CRM online, you may have recently received a notification from Microsoft asking you to confirm your scheduled upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016. Although Microsoft will automatically schedule your upgrade to occur on a specific date, you have the option of either approving or rescheduling to a date of your choice. Before you pick an upgrade date, it’s important to note the following:

  • Upgrades can be scheduled on any date between now and August 16, 2016 with the exception of Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  • When scheduling an upgrade, you must choose a date at least one day in the future.
  • There’s a possibility that your upgrade may not be completed on the primary (preferred) date selected. So you will be prompted to select a backup or alternate date. This date must be at least 14 days after the primary date selected.
  • Upgrades will occur within a 12 hour block on your scheduled date. You may select either 6 pm – 6 am PST or 6 am – 6 pm PST. You’ll receive an email notification from Microsoft once your upgrade is complete.

Once you have a date in mind, you’ll need to log into your organization’s Microsoft Office 365 Admin Portal to schedule your upgrade. Navigate to Admin > CRM to view your MSCRM instances and scheduled upgrade date. If you have more than one instance of MSCRM, click on each one to view your scheduled and alternate upgrade dates. Each instance may be scheduled on different dates.

If you are happy with the dates selected, you’ll want to approve the update by clicking on “APPROVE UPDATE” in the lower right hand corner of the screen. However, if you want to reschedule the dates, you can do so by clicking the “Reschedule update” link in blue. Clicking this link will take you to a scheduling window, allowing you to select the scheduled upgrade date as well as an alternate date.

To select a date for the preferred and alternate times, simply click on the calendar control:

Don’t forget to choose the time of the upgrade. We recommend choosing the window that will have the least impact on your business, which for most is overnight (6PM – 6AM).

Dates will certainly fill up quickly. So if you’re looking for a specific date or want to schedule your upgrade to occur over a weekend, don’t delay. Not sure if you’re ready to upgrade? Contact Beringer Associates today for assistance with your upgrade planning.
